“Call Toll Free Number” Popup Has Become Prevalent

In the past several months, thousands of Windows users range from Windows XP to Windows 10 were hit by extremely nasty Adware and Malware which generate scam “Call Toll Free Number” Popup. Among the victims, lots of people got scammed by these fake virus alerts or system error alerts, they called the provided toll free hotline and pay lots of money ($200-$500) to get fake tech service pretending to be Microsoft support. These “Call Toll Free Number” Popups malware become more prevalent with the coming of Windows 10 OS and its new web browser Microsoft Edge. Almost all the Windows 10 users encountered “Call Toll Free Number” Popup when they started to use Microsoft Edge. In most cases, the victims were kept redirecting to random blue screen popup and locked at that page displaying misleading and fake warning or alert about system error, virus or malware, such as “Your System has detected possible Suspicious Activity”, “debug malware error 895-system32.exe failure“, “BSOD: ERROR 777 Failure Operating System, “Critical progroamming error alert”, “Windows Firewall Warning! YOUR COMPUTER MAY HAVE ADWARE / SPYWARE VIRUS”, “Your Computer is infected with an adware or malware causing you to see this popup”, “Detected Security Error, Due to Suspicious Activity On Your Computer”, “YOUR MICROSOFT COMPUTER HAS BEEN BLOCKED”, “WARNING! YOUR COMPUTER MAY BE INFECTED”, etc. There scam alerts attempt to scare the users and cheat them into calling provided toll free number to get tech support which disguise as Microsoft Support, Microsoft partner or Windows Support Center of Microsoft, all they want is to sell their expensive tech service for fixing nothing. But losing money were not the only severe issue to the victims, most of victims had to sustains more severe issues after they used the scam tech service from “Call Toll Free Number” Popup. These scam services convinced every user to permit their remote access request so that they can enter user’s PC to fix the problem. In most instances, once they remotely enter user’s PC, they installed more malware charging user for more money, and they even encrypt users’ files with ransomware to force them to pay ransom money, and they hacked users’ accounts to steal users’ information.
